#WondercideReview How to get rid of Mosquitoes. Coming from dry Colorado to moist Wisconsin, I have to admit, the Bugs really bug me. I was having a hard time enjoying my garden. Apparently something called No-See-Ems really liked munching on my ankles. I've never seen so many weird bugs, in the air, the grass and the dirt. Flying bugs, crawling bugs, munching bugs, just too many bugs. I have no idea if the bugs are beneficial or not, all I know is I DON'T LIKE BUGS.
But I do like bees, butterflies, birds, lightening bugs and dragon flies.
I don't want to have to worry about fleas and ticks and mosquitoes. I've seen a variety of wasps and some spiders and I don't want to murder the beneficial bugs.
Everyday, I would gear up to water my garden, wearing rubber boots up to my knees, fully clothed and dressed like it's 50 degrees outside, to ward off the bugs without toxic chemicals. Definitely not sustainable.
So I was on a mission to find something natural to deter the no-see-ums and mosquitoes. After much research I decided to try Wondercide.
I wanted something that wouldn't harm bees, butterflies and birds. I sprayed my house and lawn and hoped for the best. It smelled wonderful and was not irritating to my skin. The next day, I was shocked that my ankles weren't a source of breakfast for the pesky invisible predators. Per the directions I did another application a few days later and I could actually mow the lawn without wearing boots and jeans. Wow! I was impressed. My garden still had plenty of bees and butterflies and I was convinced.
I also ordered some Geranium and Citronella shampoo (bar soap) for my dog. Wonderful!! I was able to get rid of her matted fur and she loved the smell and wanted to eat it!
I ordered a few samples of the personal insect repellent for myself, which I also ordered wipes to use on my dog. She likes the cedar scent. I love peppermint. It's very cooling on a hot summer day.
But the real test was at the lake cottage, where the mosquitos were relentless. We sprayed the deck and lawn furniture and trees and bushes around the patio. After just one application, we were able to have dinner outdoors without being bothered.
About a month later, after several rains, I ordered another bottle and while everyone else was complaining about mosquito bites, I was enjoying time in my garden, without being bit up. By the way, I have only seen 3 #JapaneseBeetles in my yard and I let them take a bath in soapy water.
It's easy to use and effective. It's a little on the pricey side especially during the pandemic, but it works and I am pleased with the results.
P.S. This is not a paid endorsement, just sharing what has worked for me.
Happy Gardening!
